Culter Theatre Club are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £7,478 from the Foundation Scotland and Vattenfall – ‘Unlock our Future Fund’ towards the replacement and upgrade of our stage lighting at Culter Village Hall.
Vattenfall, operator of the Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm, provide the ‘Unlock our Future Fund’ to support projects in Aberdeen City and Shire that contribute towards a climate smart future. The fund aims to support charitable activity that contributes to investment in environmentally sustainable community spaces, supports creative solutions, and ensures a legacy and benefit to the local community.
The majority of our existing lighting – which was very near end of life, was environmentally unfriendly, costly to run, and – as many will know – the heat generated was particularly uncomfortable during our summer productions.
The Vattenfall grant will allow us to upgrade all our existing fixtures to modern LED and introduce new styles of lights we haven’t used before. This will make our system more environmentally friendly, cheaper to run, and safer to operate, whilst giving us the ability to be more creative in our lighting designs.
Culter Theatre Club are not the sole users of the stage lighting. We regularly welcome visiting drama groups, special events, and other users who will feel the benefit of the investment. It will be a great asset for the future of Culter Village Hall.
We are very grateful for this financial support, and thank Foundation Scotland and Vattenfall for supporting our project.
